Clarity, Assurance & Oversight

Independent field assurance for remote conservation initiatives.
Providing verification and risk oversight for family offices, foundations, and philanthropic advisers.

The Problem

Conservation is one of the very few sectors where an organisation can claim world-changing outcomes with almost no independent accountability to test them. Trustees and advisers approve significant grants on the strength of self-reported impact data, photographs and annual reports, all produced by the party with the most direct interest in continued funding.

The result is a structural gap between what is reported and what exists on the ground. A forest described as protected may have no enforceable tenure. A marine area shown on a map may have no patrol, no monitoring and no enforcement in the water. A programme that looks credible on paper may have stopped functioning the moment the last grant ended. We hold no relationship with the organisations we assess. We report to the you, not to the recipient.

DRIFTR closes that gap. We apply to charitable capital the same standard of independent verification that any serious investor applies to financial capital: not whether the reports look good, but whether the reality on the ground matches the claim.

Services

Services scale from pre-commitment reconnaissance to continuous multi-year stewardship. Select the depth of assurance your deployment requires.

Built for those who carry the risk.

When a recommended conservation grant is misappropriated, stalls, or quietly fails, the exposure does not fall only on the donor. It falls on the trustee who approved it and the adviser who recommended it. Document review alone cannot protect against that, because the documents are written by the party being assessed.

DRIFTR gives trustees, family offices and philanthropy advisers an independent evidence base before capital is committed and at every tranche thereafter. You gain defensible decisions, reduced fiduciary and reputational exposure, and the confidence to fund, or to decline, on fact rather than narrative.

  • Verify before you commit. Pre-commitment reconnaissance that prevents capital flowing to attractive stories with no delivery capacity.

  • Verify as you fund. Independent field evidence tied to each tranche, so releases track reality.

  • Protect the recommendation. A clear, documented basis for every funding decision you advise on.

Director - Field Assurance and Expedition Operations

Expedition Director and Field Operations Specialist with over two decades of experience delivering work in remote, austere, and high-consequence environments, including the Arctic and Antarctic; offshore and expedition vessels; and frontier regions where access, safety, and logistics determine whether a project succeeds.

Background spans expedition leadership, maritime operations, and field safety systems, alongside front-line exposure to conservation realities. International, multi-agency work addressing illegal, unreported and unregulated fisheries and the associated trafficking pressures that follow where enforcement is weak or non-existent.

A competent, evidence-led approach shaped by decades of operating where ideas meet extreme weather, geopolitics, and ever evolving hazards.  Trusted for discretion, sound judgement, and the expertise to operate independently, in any environment on Earth, to obtain the truth on the ground.
